Your presence is enough. We thank you for being a part of our special days. Should you feel particularly compelled, we recommend the following charities for gifts, in no particular order. We've selected them because they represent aspects of our lives and the issues that we deeply care about.
Viet Hope. Phil's friends help to run this nonprofit, helping to empower financially disadvantaged students in Vietnam to access education and rise out of poverty. A dollar goes a long way. Thanks.
- Doctors Without Borders. Though Phil and Geoff can't do the work these folks do in global health, we know colleagues who have dedicated their lives to being at the front line, and often, the only line, that help those in need, from war zones to epidemic zones.
- Wounded Warrior Project. Helping US Veterans and their families survive and thrive. With Special Forces deployed in over 130 countries and ongoing conflicts in all corners of the globe--there are plenty of US wounded warriors and families who could use your help.
- Outserve-SLDN. They provide free legal services for LGBT service members, and act as the watchdog and policy organization dedicated to bringing about full LGBT equality to America's military. LGBTQ service members still need help against the legacy of 'don't ask don't tell', and the ever present threat of denial of the right to serve and the benefits earned simply because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
